OUR HISTORY
FOUNDED IN 1893 AS A CO-PARTNERSHIP AMONG LOCAL FARMING FAMILIES, the Washington Feed and Supply Company was
an important resource for the agricultural community in Washington, Connecticut.
By 1909, the business had incorporated and expanded - selling coal, propane, flour, feed, lumber, and hardware.
DELIVERIES WERE SERVICED BY THE SHEPAUG RAILROAD LINE that ran beside the store, until it ceased operations in 1947
when freight service shifted to trucking.
Like much of Washington Depot, Washington Supply suffered extensive damage in the 1955 flood, but thanks to
generous townspeople who pitched in to help clean up, it was able to open for business the following day - an early
example of the community spirit that has helped sustain “The Supply” for generations.

in order to offer even better, faster reliable service. Washington Supply joins Chapman Lumber and Country Lumber, expanding coverage of Connecticut locations within the group.
