Premier Newsletter—Winter, 2009

Washington Supply is debuting two new furniture lines to replace the Smith & Hawken products.  Smith & Hawken decided to end it’s Authorized Retailer Program, and we are happy and proud to introduce Summer Classics (Aluminum & Resin Wicker) and Kingsley Bate Ltd. (Teak) to the Outdoor Living line-up for the Spring.  Stop in to see the catalogs, or both are on-line: www.summerclassics.com and www.kingsleybate.com.  We’re sure you’re going to like what you see...

 Upcoming Free Public Seminars

Washington Supply will be offering three seminars to the public.

This seminar will involve considerations of the new LEED® For Homes rating system.  LEED® stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design.  LEED® Rated Homes are fairly new to Connecticut.  Today, there are only six homes, and only one here in Litchfield County (Norfolk).   LEED® certifying your new home will save you money in the long term on the operation of your home as well as enhance your homes’ resale value.  Presented by Bob Whelan, LEED® AP and partner at Washington Supply.

This seminar will involve the addition of Photovoltaic panels or roofing slates to your home or office, and how they can work as well with Solar Domestic Hot Water Systems.  The advantages, pitfalls, costs and potential cost reduction programs from the state and federal government will be discussed as well.  Presented by Ray Furse of SolarWrights / Alteris and Bob Whelan of Washington Supply.

This seminar will be principally for our commercial tradespeople.

A tough economy can cause customers to not pay their bills.  Know your rights, and protect your good credit by getting others to pay you!  Presented by Mike McKenna of Sienkiewicz & McKenna, PC of New Milford, Connecticut and Bob Whelan, CFO of Washington Supply.

All seminars will have take-aways.  Refreshments will be served.

NEWS FLASH

Lumber and Plywood prices have fallen!  2008 prices versus 2007 fell 21% for framing and 12% for plywood.  Fuel surcharges are also coming down.  Now is the time to consider starting your major projects before Spring demand picks up, as will prices.

Many changes have been taking place on the Washington Supply website.  We have added a contact area, a new items listing area, and lots of you have asked us to place your company name in the “Building Professionals” section of the site.  We’ve also added a Community Bulletin Board with the first items being our 3 seminars (details below).   We’re open to ideas regarding improvement of the website, so if you have any suggestions for information you’d like to see us provide, please don’t hesitate to let us know.  Our best suggestions come from our customers and friends!
